Personal Vision Statement

I am diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal radiologist. My clinical practice and research focus is on improving patient outcomes and experiences.

I am the Musculoskeletal Radiology Fellowship Program Director, and I am committed to helping our next generation of MSK radiologists achieve their goals and potential.

I am the Departmental Wellness Officer – a role in which I am growing into and learning about daily.

I am an Engineer, who is interested in how Artificial Intelligence will shape our futures.

I am an online Masters of Business Administration student at University of Massachusetts in Amherst. I am acquiring life-skills that are helpful for both my career and non-work life. I am learning how to learn and teach online.

Short Bio & Clinical and Research Expertise

I am currently in my thirteenth year of clinical practice, and Associate Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School. My primary research interests are in musculoskeletal diseases, with a focus on oncology and infection.

My undergraduate studies in Chemical Engineering and Biology at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) (2001) taught me critical thinking skills. My medical school, Weill Medical College of Cornell University (2007), focused on problem solving and application of knowledge.

Since completing my Radiology Residency and Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Fellowship at MGH (2011), I have pursued teaching of undergraduate students, medical students, residents, fellows, peers, physical therapists, among others, and research, and regularly present at Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS), Society of Skeletal Radiology (SSR), and International Skeletal Society (ISS) meetings. I love sharing what I’ve learned – making it tangible, digestible, and memorable.

I have devoted my research career to answering practical clinical questions. Every day, in my clinical practice, questions arise, for which there are no answers or only a partial answer. My overall research goal is to improve my clinical practice through practical answers to these questions. If you read one of my papers, I hope that you will take away knowledge that you can use immediately, when you read your next radiological study, or when you perform your next image-guided procedure. My particular interests have been medical musculoskeletal diseases such as cancer and infection, and image-guided interventions related to these diseases.

I have done some research using Deep Convolutional Neural Networks to detect osseous metastases. As an engineer, I am very interested in how artificial intelligence will shape our futures, and I want to be a part of that process.

I have a passion for mentoring the next generation of radiologists and researchers.

In 2020 I became a mom, and that changed my life forever in the best possible way. :)

Please give me a buzz if you’d like to chat about MSK radiology, research, education, wellness, parenting, or all of the above! :)
